Free Google Ads script · Budget safety

Budget guard

Alert on monthly or daily overspend and optionally pause enabled campaigns after a verified dry run.

ModeDry run by default; live mode can pause campaigns
Suggested frequencyDaily

What it is for

A faster check.
Not automatic judgement.

This small guardrail compares month-to-date spend with a configured monthly cap and checks whether today’s spend exceeds twice a 30-day average daily allowance. In live mode it can pause enabled campaigns and email the result.

What the script does
  • Checks month-to-date spend
  • Checks a double-daily threshold
  • Logs the proposed action in dry-run mode
  • Can pause all enabled campaigns only after DRY_RUN is deliberately disabled
Before the first run
  1. 01Enter the monthly budget in account currency
  2. 02Set one or more recipient emails
  3. 03Run in Preview with DRY_RUN set to true
  4. 04Only enable live mode after verifying scope and thresholds
Important

This is the only library script that can pause campaigns. A shared budget, unusual billing pattern or incorrect cap can stop valid traffic. Keep dry run on until the logs are verified.

Use this script at your own risk. Google Ads interfaces and reporting fields change. Always run Preview in the intended account and read the logs before enabling or scheduling it.
